What is your dog trying to tell you? Dogs are very expressive animals who communicate when they’re feeling happy, sad, nervous, fearful and angry. Our dogs use a variety of facial expressions, ear movement, tail positions and overall demeanor to signal their feelings to others. Join us for Ask the Trainer with Marsha Robbins to learn all about canine body language and stress signals. By learning how to break your dog’s body language down into smaller components, you can learn how to better communicate with your canine companion!
About the Trainer: Marsha is a Senior Trainer with the Western PA Humane Society Training & Education Center where she is an instructor of numerous courses including Puppy Pre-School; Advanced Puppy and Super Dog. She is also an instructor for advanced level courses such as Canine Good Citizen Coaching, Therapy Dog Prep, and Dynamic Dogs (a practicum course for TDI certified dogs and their handlers). She is certified as an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator. In addition, Marsha leads the weekly "College Canine" program, which brings TDI dogs to help students at the University of Pittsburgh relieve stress. The project's success has earned it coverage by several major news outlets in Pittsburgh.
Ms. Robbins was instrumental in developing a Dog Safety program for the U.S. Postal Service. She also provides programs to local schools offering presentations on dog safety, pet care, and careers with animals. Marsha certified her first dog as a TDI therapy dog in 1999; she is the proud owner of 11 special canines who have served our community as certified therapy dogs.
